Any ideas on the elevation of the mountain passes on the way down to La Ventana? It looks like there are two on the way down.

Your highest passes are not in Baja but on I-5 starting with Siskiyou in Oregon summit and the Grapevine in Calif. There several short steep hills on Mexico One. The first of several steep hill climbs are outside of Ensenada. After those the next long steep hill climbs are south of El Rosario to Catavina. Your next steep hills are dropping into Santa Rosalia and climbing out of Loreto both of these are very steep. Several miles south of Consitucion there are several small hills before La Paz.

As for your question, most the the major passes are from sea level to a couple of thousand feet. There are hundreds of small hills in Baja. Mexico One (The Baja) is a great road trip.

DON'T Drive and night and don't let you fuel drop below 1/2 full.

This hill keeps me up at night when I'm driving south and north.
It is a jaw-dropper the first time you peak over the crest going down Shocked
In a car it is probably no big deal, but with a camper it will pucker your sphincter.

It's not the elevation, but the oncoming rv crossing into your lane that will scare the shit out of you. Mex 1 is like driving the hood river bridge at 50 mph with no guard rails, no shoulders, sharp unmarked turns, and gringos who can't stay in their lanes. Oh yeah, throw in some random livestock and you've got it. Good fun!
One of the best roads in North America.
