The wind direction is not good for an outgoing tide. The tide is going out until around 6 pm

exciting goofy action

wind, waves and the sun made a guest appearence (as well as a gracious River Troll )

brought the surfboard and figured it would 50/50 = was bit worried when Rollo went all Magellan on us - but the wind gods smiled on his boldness Thumb's Up )

Heyoo, was just trying to read this thread and any others to get an idea about what to look for when heading out to the coast and what might be "good conditions". I thought I heard that northerly winds were what to look for on the coast but it was blowing from the south all weekend so I didn't know if that would be good or bad. You guys sounded pretty stoked about the southerly winds but also mentioned the tide. Anybody have any good websites to check for good conditions at the coast and what to look for? My luck, I would see the wind blowing southerly and have the wrong tide for that or something.

Currently, I just look at www.windonthewater.com for free readings of what the wind is doing and go off of that, but it's not the best/most reliable way to plan my weekend/day.

Thanks so much! Sounded like fun at the coast! Fortunately Rooster went crazy on Saturday morning! Easterly baby!

definitely hit or miss on stormy southerlies (not so much planning as checking the live current conditions and racing out)

also need to accept that it could - crank or shut-off at any time (if its particularly unstable you can score both - like yesterday - gusted me 20 yrds off my board on the 11m rev immediately followed by 6kts of wind and some slow body dragging - way too far out)

wind sensors (ikite), marine forecast, OR radar and coastal satellite are the starting points or just go to the beach to surf/fish and get lucky...

Were you guys at the ponds or somewhere else? I was out by area B hoping to fly PG's until about 3pm or so (it was blown out for wings). I didn't see anyone out at area D. Plus the tide looked all wrong for the ponds. I thought that an outgoing tide there is bad news.
