This time of year, it's tough to dry your kite out after a session. Your wetsuit too. You, or more likely your SO, probably don't want your wet, sandy kite spread out in the house. If you have a basement, things probably dry real slow in there. A couple of years ago I got a De-humidifier from Lowes for around $100. Worth it's weight in gold. Fire it up in the basement & your kite & wetsuit are dry in no time.

If you don't have a basement, I can't help you, sorry. Maybe somebody else has a tip for basementless people?

Just grab an extension cord and move the dehumidifier into the van. I've done this, definately helps fight the moisture and no annoying noise in the house.

I don't have a basement, but garages work well also. I leave the wife's car outside for the night, then pump up the wet and sandy kite and close the garage door. Turn on the dehumidifier and maybe a small oil radiator heater (no fire hazard) if it is cold. In the morning it is all crispy dry, then just brush off the kite and pack it away for another opportunity to get it all crusty in a windy rainstorm.

I used to pump up my kites to dry them, but have found they dry just as well deflated. (As long as the de-humidifier is on.) Just drape it over something.

I find that a Mexican beach does the trick. A couple of fish tacos and some cervezas and everything is dry and ready to go.

By the way, not to repeat a post but the Chimp Rapes a Frog video made me cringe in laughter. I've already sent it to my friends.

At the coast. And it's blowing southerly Smile

I hang my suit and stuff on the shower rod and in the tub, close the door and turn on the heater for an hour. Bone dry. Kites in the garage with a fan on it. Rolled out tip to tip or in the bag, it seems to dry just about the same. But if you are at the coast and you don't have some heat or air then it'll just stay set forever.

If you just drive out to The Dalles, its warm, mostly sunny and not pissing rain. Driving out of the torrent in Hood River and into the sun out here was the highlight of my day today... oh, and its going to be nice here until mid-November too... AND we have a Gross-me-outlet...
