Wikiup Resevior has been kited off and on. The levee on the North/East side is where most kiters drive into to find a launch zone. I imagine the water is very low now and there are probably stumps sticking out in many places. If the water level is sufficient, it's pretty good - waist deep for a long way out. |

Timing and having the gear makes a big difference for success.
I've always thought that East Lake up on Palina Peak would be killer. The east side has a day use section with long beach and uniform worn obsidian gravel/sand. Shallow water on beach, grassy lagoon downwind of land and launch. Beach has the best fetch for the lake. NW to W wind in the afternoon. I'd want someone with a boat watching just in case. Deep cold lake at 6k plus.
12 or 14m kite would be the call and one would be launching with a significant on-shore wind. |
