Did the forum get changed to nwpolitics? or nwpimps? Just wondering?

anyone want to talk about something else?

Has anyone gotten their kite dookied on this past week? What about nekit dudes, anyone seen any of them lurking in the bushes? Or what about helium? Has someone tried to put helium in their kites so they kite rip it up in light winds? My personal favorite - has anyone tried putting on ankle weights when they kite so they can hold down a bigger kite? Or finally, has anyone gotten skunked at sauvies recently?

I was headed out to do some nekid kiting at Rooster with my new helium filled kites, but went to Sauvie instead. Apparently leaving wind to find wind was a bad idea. Sauvie record: Sauvie=3, kiting=0 Laughing

....at least I remembered Jesus's SPF 3000 sunscreen!

seeing as how the world is conspiring against me in order to prevent me from kiting, it seems better to just chat about something else.

2010.. The Summer that Never was.

Martin. How ever many times you have been skunked at Savuie. I can pretty much guarantee I have been more. I got a lot of practice pumping my kite only to fold it up again this summer. Smile

Oh and you forgot to mention getting a ginormus speed3 (foil) so you can kite in low wind. For the life of me I can't remember the guy's name right now but one of the regulars at Sauvie swears by foils.

Has anyone actually ever filled their kite with helium?

Really, you guys got skunked at sauvie??! That seems really odd?

Foils kites are great for the water! That's why you see soo many of them in the gorge. There is a reason that guys nickname is "channel marker"

Yeah, I know. Every time I was there getting skunked - you were right there at the beach. I generally get skunked a couple of times a year at Sauvies. But this year, it was rediculous. Even last year (which was not a good year) I would be able to hit it up after work once a week or so and get a solid ride.

anyways, the guy with the foil goes by Blokt on this forum. He goes by "blokt" cus his old screenname got blocked. His old screen name is hamlindp - aka, channel marker, cus he would guy down in the channel - bwahahaha!! j/k hamlind, much love to the foil folks.

as for the helium, I posted it up, cus its ironic. Most years on the forum someone asks if they filled up their kite with helium will it help it fly. People argue backa nd forth about physics and the size of the molecules and what not. But anyways, in an issue of kiteboard mag they actually ran the experiment. One kite with helium, one with regular air. They said it didn't make a difference. They explained that the weight of the kite (nylon) was too much to make a difference. Helium works in a baloon cus the laytex is so light.

Ah I see. That makes sense on the helium.

The ankle weight seems like a good way to drown though lol. Also it seems like you would get yarded much easier and then have your feet dragging in the water due to the weight distribution. If you want to add weight to have more wind range you should get a weighted vest instead (and a massive PFD).

I seem to remember about 3 weeks straight of good winds in July. Not too bad if I wasn't stuck at work most of that time.

Jones was going 30 mph big time all evening. Was good for everyone out there, except me since I botched a self launch and bummed up my right shoulder.
