These people are in for a serious beat down. I don't know anybody there, but an old friend of mine from MI who learned to kite in OBX, has at least five friends who for whatever reason are getting ready to hunker down. Once that storm hits, there's no 911, no fire dept, no police and if any section of the road washes out like it did during Isabel, no way out of that place for a good long while. They're on their own. Let's all send 'em some positive energy, shall we?

good luck CAPE HATTI! hold down the fort, batten down the sliders, and keep a 7m rigged for mainland runs after the road washes out! and charge all available camera batteries for sure!

seriously tho, hopefully one of the 3 best places to ride in the country doesn't get crushed tonight.

good luck 4 sho

I was under the impression that Hatteras had been evacuated

Drock- Last I heard, it has been. But as with any evacuation, there are people who, for whatever reason, can't or won't leave, including my buddy Cory's friends. These are the people we need to be concerned for, and judging their decision is a zero-sum game...

GWTW- Glad to hear Real got most of their people out. Best of luck to those who stayed behind! Hope they're stocked up on food and water.

A friend in western NC tells me Earl was just downgraded to a Cat 2, and the eye is expected to miss land. Will be wet and windy for sure, but they may have dodged the bullet. Morning will tell...

One of the *4* best, mind you. Let's keep in mind the eastern shore of Lake Michigan: South Haven, Grand Haven, Onekema, Frankfort, Point Betsie, Grand Traverse Bay...
