Really???
You seem to do a lot of really cool things to help kids. This would not be one of them.
I remember when I was in school and our 8th grade teacher had us watch “Future Shock”. I walked out of there thinking that we were going to choke to death due to over population. It was much like this video. There was lots of imagery, short on real science, or at least a presentation that was balanced with more than one perspective. These videos are more interested in eliciting an emotional response from the viewer to steer the viewers opinion toward a specific conclusion.
If you are really going to show this video, try making it a lesson on how propaganda works by selecting obvious examples from the video. Please don’t present this as fact. Scaring impressionable minds about their future is not education, it is indoctrination. |

Since when does the public review scientific documentation to form their opinions? If that was the case I think those that claim that we are not negatively effecting our planet would be an even bigger joke than they are now.
I've read a multitude of peer reviewed journal articles on both sides (there is only a smatering of independant, reviewed papers published that claim there is nothing to worry about). Those that indicate alarming trends have higher P values and stricter adhearance to the scientific method.
But yeah, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense as the earth isn't a closed system, organisms can't really have an effect on their environment, and there is an unlimited amount of resources for everyone.
As a society, we should reject any information that runs counter to popular opinion as that is what we have always done. The sun orbits around us, the world is actually flat, and the burning of fossil fuels does nothing to our atmosphere.
I think a more interseting topic is what major event will wipe out the majority of the human species, massive volcano eruption or meteor strike?
