I have rescued loose C kites (fuels) on the water in the past which were lost and tumbling downwind. this was done by carefully riding up and getting ahold of one corner line at the tip of the kite - the kite would flag out and it could be brought in to shore or beach. The lines were always ridiculously tangled but the owner was happy to have the rig back.

Today I tried to rescue a loose 4 line Bridled SLE kite using the same technique. It seemed that no matter which part of the bridle or line I got ahold of the kite wouldn't flag out - it continued to spin and tumble while maintaining it's shape - that made it very difficult to ride and safely drive my kite effectively. In the end I got it to the shallow water and somebody grabbed it.
Suggestions?

No mine but thanks so much for helping someone out in need!!!!!

I brought someones board to shore a few nights ago and I struggled big time with that let alone a kite; especially when I am a beginner my self.

Haven't done it a bunch but the times I have I just rode up, tackled it and pulled the deflate valve. Puuuuuhhhhhhhhh

then just clip a section of the bridle to your leash and drag it in.
If your rescuing a hot chicks kite, you can roll it up into a big wet burrito and carry it in.

I stay away if the lines are still attached. Tried to rescue Diggys kite at jones last year, kept getting tangled in the lines. Scary

David - thank you for saving my kite! 10M RPM - green color.
I got tangled up with another kiter by the bridge and had to eject the kite.
Thank you for the rescue! I'll look for you at the ES and try to properly thank you.
The people on the beach told me it was an heroic effort.
