Thu Aug 12, 10 5:19 pm Wind this hot weekend? Where it be? |
|
|
Just seeing if anyone had any predictions on the wind for this weekend with the heat wave coming through... any thoughts on Jones or Hood River (possibly Sauvies, I still only have a 10 m). Any educated guesses are appreciated. Gracias |

Tomorrow is supposed to be good at Sauvie. If it is I'd say that Saturday will probably be. Problem with Sauvie on the weekend is the parking fills up completely. If you are going there make sure to arrive by about noon. You might have to wait a couple hours for good wind at that point but it's better than not being able to park.
I'm going to try to get to Jones Saturday. From what I can tell it should be good there. Speaking of which does anybody that is going to Jones Saturday have room to let me bum a ride? I'll throw in some gas money; PM me. I'm out in Beaverton but I can meet you at your place if your in the Portland metro area. _________________ Captain kook; always wrong. |

Ok I take it back. No Sauvie on Saturday. Go to Troutdale.
Where do you launch from in Troutdale? _________________ Captain kook; always wrong. |

Rooster Rock State park. East end of the parking lot. Follow the trail towards the river then take a left at the sign that says volleyball. This time of year there's seriously like a mile of sand or more. Get there early.
Leave your speedo and chaps at home, you don't need em. It's a nude beach.
Then again it may not go, but my money is on Rooster Saturday.

Ah ok I didn't realize Troutdale was Rooster Rock. The forecast for Jones actually isn't that great at the moment so if I can't find a ride I'll just head there. Thanks for the heads up _________________ Captain kook; always wrong. |

Jesus people... Kalama? Sauvie? Are you trying to not find wind?
Rooster will be blowing at least 25 by 12:00. Earlier if things heat up quickly. It's your best bet for wind this weekend. Beware the vietschlong and "captain America "
Like moto already said, if your upwind ability ain't so good, then you want to hike way west.
One last note for the beginers, unless it's really raging, the wind falls quickly. The wind REALY dies west of the large steel piles. If your barely riding and your getting close to the pilings yo' ass better be heading to the beach.
Rig small, go fast, and boost big. Cause nobody is ever celebrated for being the biggest pussy _________________ Bury me standing cause I won't lay down!!

Come on Monkey. You know how much I like to drive places so that I can sit on the beach and then pop my dry kite. I suppose for the sake of living a little I'll head to Roster Rock tomorrow though. But I'm only going to live a little; if it's windy enough to get a plane going I might have to rig up my B-2. Wouldn't want to be over-powered. _________________ Captain kook; always wrong. |

Just breath, count to 10 and then breath, from your diaphragm. LOL, Just kidding.
OK, so are you saying that it will blow at Rooster?

Yes. Check out Scribble's post with the link. Rooster Rock should be blowing in the high teens Saturday according to the forecast. _________________ Captain kook; always wrong. |
