Calling all Coastal Assault Participants and lurkers with questions!!! It's time to Rock the Eastern Front, aka Roosevelt, Washington. At this point the weather is looking like it will be cooperative. However, all great sessions are determined by a combination of luck and data. The current iwindsurf.com forecast is looking promising for a solid 20mph average extending out East for the next couple of days. It will more than likely continue, but time will tell.

If this weather pattern continues we will make our move on Roosevelt, Washington. Camping is permitted here so search it and check it out. The sites fill up fast so arrive early as it's first come first serve. If the wind bombs we will take our assault to where the wind blows!!

How many of you would like to participate in a Camp at Roosevelt, Maryhill, or even Hood River area? I'm talking about the weekend of the August 14, 15, and 16. RSVP me so I can get stuff ready!

Last time there was some interest in lesson's, and instruction. This will be available, but you will need to pm, email, or call to set that up. The purpose of this Camp Eastern Gorge Frontal Assualt will be to meet and connect with other folks who share questions, ideas and suggestions.

I'm gonna try to line up a pro kiteboarder as a guest speaker. If you have any suggestions on what would make this more interesting to you post it, or pm me.

Have a great day!!,
Ron

Ron: Karen and I will be at Flora's this weekend so we can't make this event... thanks for the last coast session you hosted, and look forward to future fun.
For everyone else (and especially fellow learners): this is a great way to meet some other kiters and get the lowdown on local kiting "culture".

OK, well at this point it's looking like the weather is going to favor the Coast!!! Rhonda from Channel 2 is predicting 90's in Pdx. This means that the gradient will probably be turning easterly. When that happens it can only mean one thing!!!

We are gonna go Postal on Da Coastal!!!!!!

Better bring your SUP. . .I'm putting my money on you and your possee going "Postal" at Rooster. Both Noaa and Termia are calling for super light winds at the coast.

Highly doubtful with that forecast. Keep an eye on Manzanita...clear skys and warm temps might kick up some wind.

PostThu Aug 12, 10 3:37 am    Let's meet at Jonesy Beach!! Sat PM Reply with quote

Roosevelt, Washington will happen soon, but it's looking like Jones Beach is going to be good. Here is the latest NOAA forecast, http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=46.047100&lon=-124.396000

As far as going to the coast for good winds Friday looks like the day to be there. I'm considering a run to Fort Steven's to catch a downwinder. The wind is predicted to blow up to 15 knots with 6ft. swell, but just for Friday, but ya know I've got some surfboards too.

If you want to hook up give me a call of pm. I look forward to making some more friends!

Cheers,
Ron Very Happy

Saturday looks like it might be ok too?

Any chance you'll be around Fort Steven's on Saturday. I used to windsurf the ocean in the 80's but have not done so with a kiteboard. This was my goal for this year.

Dude, your high. . . 15kt if your lucky. Throw in some current and wave surge and your sucking salt water while trying to swin in with your kite. Don't get me wrong, I'd love for people to get some, but it just doesn't look good. Jones might be a differnet story and or surfing. . .but kiting, no way.

I definitely wouldn't go to Rooster. It's way too close and there's way too much beach and flat water.

PostFri Aug 13, 10 6:39 am    North Coast could blow, Gorge Hot and East, Surfing?? Reply with quote

Hey windobsessed, it's a long shot as far as the North Coast goes. What's your biggest kite?
** Yes, I will be in the area for sure. I may have some lesson's at Jones Beach. If you want to call me do so, 541-980-6378. If you want an evaluation of your skills that can be arranged. If you just wanna ride with me at Jones look for a grey van.

So, I'm heading to the Coast!! Either way it's ok cause I'm taking my SUP and I'm taking my dog. He needs to run free and drop bombs anywhere without scrutiny of the audience. He, Scout, told me, "Dad, take me to the north coast where I can run free!!!"

OK, so here's my plan.

Scenarios:

If it's blowing on Saturday I'm already gonna be there. I'll jump on a big kite and a big board and get some.

If it's not blowing I'll be Stand Up Paddle Boarding. I've got my GoPro taped to the end of my paddle and maybe I'll get some shark, sea lion, or other marine life footage.

It it's blowing really good at Jones Beach I'll get there in the late afternoon.

All in all it's gonna be sunny and warm on the coast. I like being on the coast when this happens. You might like it too,
Cheers,
Rhonda Very Happy
