ikite is probably the least accurate of the predictors that exist for SI.
It's looking kind of grim, and I doubt it will go. Of course, I thought the same thing last nite and wished I'd pumped 9m (at one brief point). It was all over the map yesterday, but there was the typical hour or so of good conditions if you tough it out.
Tide should be OK till about 8:30pm tonight. _________________ Lets FLY |

Not gonna go. There is no gradient from longview to PDX.
Don't bother using Ikitesuck for a Sauvies forecast cuz they don't do a thing to forecast it. The just put in a bunch of BS to make you feel better.
Use Airnet under the forecast section on the top of this page for a better forecast option.

I usually check WindOnTheWater and look at the sauvie DMV and the Scappoose airport sensors throughout the day. I also check out the airnet forcast that Cooch linked to. If you click on forecast from WindOnTheWater it will take you there. Those give me a decent indication of if there's a chance in hell but usually the sensors are well over 30 minutes old so when I get off work I call the Scappoose airport automated weather line 503-543-6401 to get up to the minute updates.
If the sensors read 7+ before 4pm and have been trending up throughout the day or if the wind line reads 9+ at any time I will head out. Quite often that means I end up in low wind and get to pump up my kite for a crappy session but at least I got wet.
I want those two weeks of awesome wind back.
Right now the wind is from the south, its light, and the sensors in the area are all blowing different directions. Not a good sign. You want the wind from the Northish and preferably slightly NW. _________________ Captain kook; always wrong. |
