Wed Aug 04, 10 11:35 am River nose symptoms? Get tested in HR! |
|
|
The Columbia Riverkeepers are looking for people with active symptoms of River Nose* to test. If you have active symptoms or know someone who does please get yourself/them tested right away. If you are a river user and have chronic sinus issues you should get tested as well.
These tests will help establish the missing link of what is actually causing River Nose (finally!) and it is just a quick swab administered in the Riverkeepers downtown Hood River office. Please spread the word about this, the more tests they get the closer we all are to the truth about this issue and to a potential cure.
Tests are given 9am to 3:30pm at Columbia Riverkeeper office at 724 Oak Street, Hood River, ask for Lorri. You can also call Lorri at 541.399.0769 if you have any questions or to schedule an alternate time/pick up a test kit.
More contact and river nose study info here: http://www.columbiariverkeeper.org/index.php/adopt_river/rivernose
Columbia Riverkeepers do a tremendous amount to protect the river we love, please consider supporting them through donation or volunteering. By supporting them we help not only ourselves but all the other people, animals and plants that depend on the Columbia for recreation, work, habitat or food. Which is also great for wind karma too.

my sinuses got out of control spending most of everyday teaching or riding. ill hafta go get it tested but what has helped me after my sinus infection spread to ears and throat is a good ol nasal salt water enema! get a 60 cc siringe and blast it up both nostril twice after EVERY session, even if ur nose gets better its preventative to do every time.
dont be shy, mix up water and salt and keep it in a bottle in your car, lotsa salt, if it stings like crazy its to much but you want it salty, blast it up there and try to let it drain out your other nostril and down your throat but dont swallow (insert dirty joke here).
plus its fun and looks cool too! _________________ Sean Sauve |

Yea I have had this nose thing ever since I started wind sports over 20 years ago. The NeilMed sinus rinse have helped quite a bit.
Probably cuts it in half. Mysteriously it goes away about Oct....when I stop kiting/windsurfing. _________________ Thanks for your reply |

I get pretty miserable river nose; started wearing a kayaker's nose pinch ($8 at Kayak Shed) and it solved the problem 100%. Looks a little funny, but it's WAY better than sleeping like shit every night because of the sinus pressure. |
