Fri Jul 30, 10 11:24 pm Best wind direction at Event Site |

rigged my kite around 6pm tonight, winds were reading 21 knots. Get out on water and winds were all over the place. Wind direction was SW on iKitesurf. Is a SW wind the issue? What about NW wind? Comments are welcome! |

You can pretty much count on the wind at the Event Site dying every day between 5:00 and 7:00 in the evening.
It is also common for the wind to have a SW cant so that it doesn't make it around the bend in the river by the Hook. There will often be a nice windline from Wells Island to the little White Salmon bridge with plenty of wind on the Hatchery side, but almost nothing on the Event Site side.
It is also normal to have a wind shadow right off the beach at the Event Site which can make launching a kite from the grass (when allowed) very tricky.
It is rare to have a W/NW wind that fills in all the way to the beach. |
