Apparently a sacrifice of brand new GoPro was needed. Evil or Very Mad

I'd check with the Nordic deity Heimdall..... guardian of the rainbow bridge.... the dude who hears grass grow and can see for a hundred leagues night or day. Yep, he's also a Gorge surveillance deity (gate keeper), extremely perceptive.... heck, he's got nine mothers and he knows where everything goes on the river.

Yeah, it just wasn't a good day for me, shit kept on me since I got up this morning. Went to Stevenson to decompress and ended up with no camera and no kite bag.
I better start praying to all the minor deities around for a better weekend.

bokeh,
I'd suggest sending an email to GoPro with that picture and explain to them what happened.
They may be able to help you with a replacement, either warranty it or a reduced cost on a new unit.
that sucks when that happens.

That sucks about the camera. If you end up getting a replacement I would think twice about using the adhesive mount on the board....those things just son't work very well. Stringy has a fin mount for your board that works really well, check it out.

Tony B might have your bag.

Thanks guys,
I sent a note to GoPro as stringy suggested I'll keep you guys posted as the info may come handy to others in the future.

Chooch - I was always concerned about the adhesive mount but considering the mount held but the watertight housing footing did not makes me wondering about the weakest link in the setup. And just to think that putting my newly bought kitehero mount was my next planned step! Smile

yep GoPro's don't float. i lost mine SUPing on the coast in May, e-mailed the rep but I never heard back from him, but I got it for free to begin with and decided putting gas in my car was more important

Go Pro makes a kit that provides a "leash" as a back up....

It is a good back up system

Less then couple of weeks passed since the river feeding day, and lo and behold GoPro proved to be a company to give props to! I just received a nondescript USPS box with a bubble wrapped replacement camera.

GoPro rocks! Thanks guys!

if you're worried about losing this housing again, upgrade the mount and add a wrap.
send me a pm if you are interested.

So when exactly is end of summer. I want a GoPro wrist mount for the HD but no luck until "end of summer".

Indeed! However, my plan B - in case GoPro doesn't show generosity - was to go with the upcoming 960dpi version:

http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/04/gopro-bringing-high-def-helmet-cams-to-the-masses-launching-18/

Of course the downside would be I'd have to wait until 'this fall' for one.

Oh, it's the camera you're talking about! For the first few posts I thought you'd lost your GoJoe!

Need coffee now...
