Do a search here: http://www.bayareakiteboarding.com. There's a "schools" link on the header. I learned (at Air Padre in South Padre Island, TX - Brett's the best!) before I moved here so I don't have any local experience to relay. |

I'm a little baised, but if they want to learn in the Bay, Wind Over Water is the premier school. Www.wowkite.com
The website needs updated badly, but the progam/instructors are the best. All water instruction is done one-on-one in the Bay using jet skis.
Sorry that my first post is promoting...looking forward to being a part of the forum.

Talk to Nat at Edge.
Jet boat, assisted downwinders, fresh water kiting, good wind, radios, tequila (after lesson) etc...

Was not impressed with Boardsports Kiteboarding during a recent trip to the Bay Area. Spoke with one of the owners at their Coyote Point location, and she seemed a bit too busy to give me all the information I wanted about their instruction. Granted I was asking a bunch of questions, but I think one should expect that for a potential $800 pay day.
I did not take lessons there, but I spoke to a student that was waiting for his instructor to get back from a jet-ski assisted lesson. I think it was going on 15-20 minutes late.
The student had interacted with his instructor earlier and seemed to like the guy. Apparently, they import instructors as they get uber busy on weekends. I didn't talk to the guy after the lesson, but he seemed to get the same vibe I did. The instructors are good, but the management is not: pay-up and get out. |
