Just curious if there is a launch there or if there is decent wind there?
Thanks

eh cottonwood isn't a bad launch but there is almost never kite-able wind. Easterlies get really really gusty, westerlies almost never make it out there and when they do they suck.
Wintler is a bit better, easterlies are the same quality as they are at the airport (as in not very good) but the launch is much tighter. |

Stevenson is only 30 minutes from Washougal. That's your best bet for westerlies close to Washougal. If you have a boat, you can occasionally ride the mouth of the Sandy, but it's usually light winds on the few days it does work there. Woodland is the next closest decent spot. Not as windy, usually, as Stevenson. Wintler Park and Frenchman's bar in Vancouver sometimes give up a good day, but it's hit or miss. As far as Easterlies, there's the previously mentioned Cottonwood Beach, but only rarely is the wind right for there. Gman's spot can be good on easterly days when Rooster is nuked out. If Rooster Rock is working, you're better off driving 30 minutes to get there. |

gman's right.
That's probably the best spot to ride easterlies close to washougal.
Probably underwater by now though.
Mostly a fall spot.
Can be pretty decent though

By the time the east winds get to Wintler Park they are all swirled up like water in an eddy. Constantly shifting wind directions is No Bueno. The guys are right, just drive to Rooster. BTW, if it's nuking at Stevenson you should check out St. Cloud (small park just off Highway 14 across from Multnomah Falls). Crappy launch (slippery stones and such) but the ride and the view are fantastic. _________________ --------------------------------
