Clean_Break wrote: | If any of you guys are locals to the Hood River area, you should really check out this awesome new webseries I'm working with called Clean Break. Basically the show's two hosts and the crew travel the country highlighting certain action water sports and local hotspots along the way. The series is looking for a local guide to show people what makes their hometown incredible. They're looking for fun, informed guides who are ready to share knowledge about Hood River with the crew. The sport featured during this stop will be windsurfing. Don't worry- the local guides won't need to be good at windsurfing (though it can't hurt!). All you need to do is submit a 2-3 minute video to their youtube page at http://www.youtube.com/hydroexperience. Hit up their facebook page to get more info at http://bit.ly/CleanBreak.
Also wanted to give you guys a heads up that the show will highlight kiteboarding in San Diego. The deadline for Local Guide submissions for SD is May 10, but you can also apply to be a kiteboarding expert. Let me know what you guys think and I can see what I can make happen. |
OMFG. A new level of gayness has been achieved!!! No wonder fucking razer blades cost $22 for a 5 pack.

@whomever is behind the Clean_Break profile
Is this your first ever experience with online marketing or the whole concept of an internet forum in general?
I really can't think of a faster way to screw up your own marketing campain, then by hijacking a topic like this ???
You created an account more than a week ago and this is your first and only post, so its not just the random spam I first suspected it to be.

Doing a highlight of kiting in SD? I've never kited there, but from what I have been told, it rarely blows there strong enough. And when it does blow the action is big sail, big boards, big kites and slow and easy moves. Don't get me wrong, that can be fun, at times, but I would think that if you wanted to make an impression on your show, you would pick a different spot. Perhaps could you pick a different water sport for SD and or pick a more windy spot for windsurfing and kiting?
If you strike-out on finding a host in HR, I would suggest trying Bridal Veil/Rooster Rock.
Since your only looking for "guys" that don't really have to be "good" at windsurfing, but know the local areas. There are plenty of "guys" out there that know where to land and launch, the trails, secret spots. But they probably are better rigging and handling their own (or someone else's) pole, vs board. They tend to hang out on the east side of the parking lot by the public bathrooms and or hang out in the willow bushes down by the river.
Good luck with your search and show.

@Sasquatch Thanks for the tips on those two spots. What makes them stick out to you?
SD is set in stone and we are pretty psyched about it. I've never kited out there either but we have a ton of submissions for Local Guides and Water Experts already. Their really pumped to show everyone their go-to beaches, shops and watering holes. Check them out on those links I threw out to you all last week - voting starts tomorrow FYI.

What can I say that isn't already implied from the photo on the previous reply?
Oh yeah, very strong winds and miles of open beaches.
Good luck with your project and next time try a post all to your own and you will probably get a more positive reaction and more hits and more favorable publicity.
