Anyone familiar with prolotherapy for shoulder problems?

After my 5th dislocation and two surgeries I'm taking a look at some other ways to skin a cat.....

I know someone who swears by it for their knees. Some insurance is starting to cover it as well.

I did three treatments for a torn labrith (spelling)?
Each treatment consisted of 6 to 8 injections.
HURT LIKE A MOTHER during (almost passed out) and after for about a day after.
It seemed to have worked for me, I don't have any shoulder issues anymore. I think my condition cleared up buy the combo of Prolo and rest, lots of rest. I did it during the winter so kiting wasn't an issue.
Only one other draw back.......It's really expensive and insurance did not cover it at all.

Good luck, you might want to pm PKH regarding his experience with surgery.

My wife used it for a hip problem. It helped, but was just part of the treatment (which did not include surgery).

Prolotherapy can be a very effective non-surgical approach to many musculoskeletal problems, including shoulder instability. There are really very few docs who do this, though with the new popularity of platelet-rich plasma injection in elite professional athletes, more docs are interested.

Best place to find docs in your area that do this procedure is:

www.getprolo.com
www.aaomed.org
www.injectiontx.org

Get it! The season is nearly here.
