from iWindsurf:
"The new sensor is on the rocky islet and about 200 feet east of the beach and 30 feet out in the river on the tiny islet you see while sailing at Dougs. (see photo below)
In general this sensor location should be much improved compared to to the old sensor since it is right next to the launch. However if you have gotten use to applying your own correction factors to use the old sensor you will have to adjust to the new sensor readings.
Please remember that it will take a while to get used to this sensors reading since we are all so used to the old sensor which was a long way from the water and the launch site.
Sometimes Dougs can be very light near shore compared mid river. On those days the new sensor, like the old one, will probably read low. You should be able to look at other sensors especially the Rowena sensor to help get an idea of the mid river winds.
Please send your experiences using this new sensor and we will post them in the Dougs sensor notes on the wind graph page.
Oh yea... if things go right we will have more sensors out on the water this season including that fabled spot east of Maryhill.
Thanks,
Mike Godsey"
