Im moving back to the states and want to travel without my gear. anybody know of a company that specializes in shipping sports gear around the world?
Shipping with the traditional companies is crazy expensive.

The price is ridiculous. I was recently quoted $10 per pound to ship to LATAM. A small shipper typically cannot compete on price with the main players (FedEx, DHL etc) so not sure if there is a cheap solution unless you're talking container etc.
I've come to realize it's cheaper to pay the airlines their extra fee and bring your boards with you. Bringing a smile to the airline ticket desk doesn't hurt either. I paid $60 on Lan Chile to bring an extra 60 pounds with me recently.....not bad I thought as some airlines will now start charging for carry-on's fyi. |

yeah, it's always going to be cheapest to ship them along with an airline traveler as part of a ticket...when I came back from Sydney, I had my 9'6" coffin bag stuffed, and it was @ $300 one way...
with the eak USD right now you might be better off flipping it before you leave... |

If you're not in a hurry...
Call some commercial shipping agents. You'll have to be near a major shipping port. Stuff is shipped in containers, and most often the containers aren't full. You can probably find someone who will add your gear to their container for a modest fee. This is going to take a bit of work to find a cooperative agent, and boats take a while to cross the Pacific! |
