Hopefully I'll get out to Hood for some lessons soon! This is in Liberty Lake, WA at Pavillion Park. I was pleased that the Slingshot B3 could lift a 200 pound dude... Cheers!

Good call on getting a trainer, fly it till control is second nature and it will put you miles ahead for when you go to pay for lessons.

Yep agreed. The B-3 is a sweet trainer for sure. There has been some ferocious winds around here lately. Hopefully you will get stoked on some lessons this summer, but the real fun around here SHOULD come in the winter. Esp around liberty lake. Altho this winter was lame.

I've already had my cofee so nothing too searing. But word to the wise if it's windy enough to truely launch you at 200lbs you may very easily
snap a line.. That said, this is always fun.. Get the kite reasonably high in the sky while on wet grass, crouch down a little then grab one end of thE bar with both hands. Hang on!! Yipee!

I took my 3m practice kite out in 30kt winds and I did snap a line. I didn' think it would spin so much on just one line. Now I put real kite lines on it. Be careful. Luckily I was only a foot off the ground when mine snapped. Embarassed

A 3m trainer is pretty safe so a 1.5m should be a cakewalk, no?
Yesterday I was out at a soccer field in predicted 18-24 southerlies for some mountainboarding, launched my 4m Scout but decided it was a bit too gusty (it is not depowerable) so without even a qualm I resorted to my teenie tiny 2 line 1.5m trainer. It has no leash attachment point to flag the kite but no problem as one could not possibly get hurt flying a handkerchief, right? Long story short, with the leash hooked to one bar end, after about 10 minutes of seemingly ok conditions, without warning, I was yanked off my board, managed to unhook but was dragged uncontrollably by the spinning kite and my leash a couple hundred feet along the ground until a fence stopped the kite. Scary! Yes I could have released the kite from the leash but that didn't seem like a necessary thing to do at the time, although in retrospect, waiting to take decisive protective steps is a receipe for disaster.
I am now going to rig some line extensions at the bar ends to attach my leash farther up the line so the kite will fully flag-out. And hopefully I'll not forget the potential force of even the smallest of kites in big gusts.
