Ian, Joby's b-day party was great, I drank a bit to much Whiskey. You should stay in Utah, the religion is better there anyways.

I second that, I'd live in Stevenson any day over hood river. The sandbar is one big circus.

Come on Spike. Everyone knows that Stevenson has one of the worst/dangerous launches around. People injure themselves and their kites on that launch. At least the hood has that huge sand bar.

Really Florian? Completely disagree amigo......the Sandbar is only a circus because of fools that want to join the circus and get close enough to tickle the elephants balls.

Monday through Friday the Sandbar is a lonely Mecca with wind that turns on daily for an after work session that somedays makes you feel like the candy store hung a "everything is free" sign in the window and I'm just a fat kid needing a fix.

Sandbar gives swell, wake, slider, flat, food, family area to view and kids to play and even a dog park! Let's not forget the self launching and landing ease if you're first in/last out and no killer rock waiting for the next lull/gust to ruin your season.

Sunday it pretty much clears out and maybe a few Saturdays during the peak of summer get's crowed but that's only because every kook and school congested at the north point....which this year will be greatly improved thanks to the CGKA.

The Sandbar is roughly 26 acres and even on busy weekends maybe half of it gets used. Rigging and launching away from the occasional visiting circus is a heck of a lot easier than rigging and launching with 7 kites on the ground at Stevie.

By the time you hit 84, deal with Cascade Locks, pay the toll, cross the bridge and hope somebody can help launch, or land you, it's about a push to have driven the extra 19.38 miles to HR in about 15 minutes for peace of mind. Stevie is boutique and if it's the only place that has wind, it can be really fun with a good vibe, but until they find more real estate that is safe Stevie creates more circus activities IMO.

yeah c'mon Spike - what Martin said - Stevenson beach is crowded if two people stand on it let alone try to launch/land at the same time plus rocks, weird back eddies, no swell, no waves, no flat water, kite eating trees, more expensive toll bridge, gill nets right in front of the launch, no kite shops for repairs after the trees eat your kite, clouds, sketchy places to bail if the wind drops or something breaks versus all the beginner friendly launch, space, variety, options, sunshine, kite shops, pubs, Airtime in the 'Hood'.
