Cold front moving down from Alaska. Predicted NW flow for today.

Remember boys and girls and those newbies: SCAB JUice Industrial AirPark # 503-543-6401. (minute by minute) Has been up and down with a lot of west in it. . . 280 degrees to 310. 420 is optimal, and 340 works really well at SI.

Sauvies is always a gamble - any time of year. It could die off at any minute. Scapoose has gone down to 10 - it was reading a lot higher. Right now SI is reading 14. Pretty good. However, if the clouds roll in it will cool off and kill the wind almost instantly at SI. But generally SI picks up the best around 6pm - assuming no clouds roll in.

Went to check it out around 3:30 and someone was out on a Yellow Cabrinha. It looked cold and flukey. On the up side my beer stayed cold and I kept my feet dry.

Were they staying upwind? If so, I'd like to pick 8-Mar as the 1st day of the SI season this year....

moto..ummm you got it a little wrong on that one.

That no cloouds rule is for thermal based systems generating pressure differences and sauvie wind.. not fronts rolling through.

So in this case, clouds or no clouds, when the front passes...its dead.

No way dude - I'm never wrong!!

Just kidding. I thought it was a thermal. Wasn't paying that close of attention.

Yeah, I took my 12 meter out today (with a big board)... what can i say, i get desperate for wind when i'm unemployed and have way too much freetime Smile flukey would be a good word for it. Got a few good gusts, but it was pretty inconsistent. Also ran into some hail on the drive home. Interesting weather...

by the way... anyone else out there flying cabrinhas? i lost the adapter piece that goes from the pump to the kite. Literally duct taped the pump to the kite to get enought air in it. Just wondering how to go about getting a new one. I'm gonna call the kite shops in hood river tomorrow and see what they say. In the meantime, i'll keep jimmy riggin'

This.

I was in Svensen on a car recovery mission.
Probably would have hit it had I thought to look at the forecast.
seemed a bit chilly, however.
