I wouldn't say as good as July and August - those months are generally pretty money (unless we get 100 degree plus weather - and that kills our beautiful wind). The water is cold - but completely doable. In May I am in a 5/3 and booties - but no gloves. At least it might not be melted snow flowing into the Columbia from Hood River. It makes the immediate water around the sandbar like ice water. Also not as much current and floating debris. The Corps might hold back more water.
