Anybody have any suggestions for good beaches (or other sites for that matter) in the area near Florence? I realize any beach will work under the right conditions - clean air, packed sand, lots of space, not too many gawkers, etc. but surely we must have something approaching Sunset Beach on the North coast.

What about around Eugene also?

I would say you have the deal figured out already. Up in Newport our favorite spot is Agate Wayside as it has everything you mentioned and the biggest hardpack sand beach at low tide.

Idea Idea Idea

Thanks Windian for the suggestion.
What kind of tide conditions do you need there to find hard enough sand pack? It seems like the beaches near Florence are mostly loose sand except for the wet stuff at low tide and low tide is really only a few hours a day, often inconvenient ones.

Lower the tide the better it is as the riding zone just gets bigger and broader. Minus tides are the most desirable, but anything from a 2.0 or lower is enough. Best days seem to be late winter and early spring with post frontal west winds and low tide afternoons. So, the next month or so should produce the best conditions for the year, but only time will tell.

Send me a PM when you head over here and I will meet you for a hardpack sess.

Later!!! Cool Cool Cool

Isn't "whisky run" near Coos Bay a good spot? I have a friend that rides there sometimes if I remember right.
