Hello everyone. I am a new Kiteboarder. I have been wakeboarding for a couple seasons but I can't get out behind a boat often enough so I am shifting to Kiteboarding.

Is there anyone here that would be willing to go out with me one day and teach me how to do this without hurting myself/others? I would be willing to provide food/drinks for the day and a small fee if necessary. I could probably be available during the week but the 13th or 14th would be ideal.

Please reply to this message or PM me if you or someone you know is interested. Thank you. Hope to see some of you out on the water soon.

13th and 14th at Rooster sounds like a plan!

Yeah i was teasing William - the water is 38 degrees right now - not ideal for learning

you want a real instructor to give you lessons as its fairly dangerous to figure out by yourself or have someone who isn't fully committed to teaching you (i have seen friends nearly kill their friends - just cause you can kite - doesn't mean you know how to teach

you want Tonia from Cascade Kiteboarding (when it gets warmer)

no doubt the best way to figure it out

Ya but that means I have to wait till they open. Sad day. Oh well I guess I'll just work with the trainer till I can find someone to teach me or the shops open.

Yeah man just keep flying the trainer kite, that is the best way to be ready when you get on the water. If you have really good kite control then learning will be a breeze. There are a lot of good schools in Hood River you can go to. Personally I would recommend New Wind. Definitely spend the money on lessons over getting taught by a friend, it will be well worth it.

I'd agree with others when they say that you ought to get an instructor. The first, say, 20 days are very difficult. It is great to work with an instructor who can trail you on wave-runner. You'll spend tons of time chasing your board and it would be a very unpleasant experience if you don't get some help.

I'd recommend going for a week to Floras Lake and taking lessons there. The instructors are great and the conditions are nearly ideal. (hell of lot more beginner-friendly than the gorge).

good luck
