Has anyone actually put the small short extension on their kite to alleviate the problem of folding or oragami'ing'?
I see the threads on it, but don't know if really necessary? Just got kite and have not flown it yet, but would like to hear about other North users real life experiences if there is anyone out there to contribute. Brand bashing not welcome, thanks! |

I think your talking about the line mod that runs from the pump leash loop to the "V" in the 5th line?
If you are, here's my story:
I purchased a perfect 09 Rebel 6M from "yardsale" and had a great summer in the Gorge with this kite... never a problem. Until a 50+ mph Rooster day in October! I was over by the Wa. side of the river and I decided to downloop the kite in a trasiton and drive it right through the power zone. Too much torque on the span and the kite really did "origami" on me.
Once it was done there was absolutely nothing one could do to get it straight again. I know cause I f**ked with this for 30 minutes and I had Allen come over 4 or 5 times trying to flip it straight. Not gonna happen. I safely rolled up my lines, and when I got to the kite it honestly took me putting foot on the LE and pulling on the trailing edge, then pushing with all my might to un-origami this thing.
Moral of the story... When yardsale gives you the mod in June and tells you to install it, pay attention.
Long Long swim home.
IT IS A GREAT KITE
I'm sure Big Winds have the mod kit, get it. _________________ CGKA Member

It's super easy to do, takes about 2 minutes per kite. You can make your own out of Q-line, or get the kits from any north dealer. If you want to make your own I think I found the lengths on the northkites site. Big Winds will give them to you too, I would guess.
I would do it. |

Definitely worth doing, if you need to. I've been told many of the 09 Rebels shipped with it already installed. |
