But growing up in Seaside I have a horrific fear of being attacked by great whites. Espically seeing several throughout my surfing years. I TRULY HATE reading stories like this. Too close to home and a unfortunate risk to playing in the ocean. Sad day, it truly is......I toast my beer to him and all attacked by the silent stalkers.... That sucks. Does anyone know if that is the first attack on a kiteboarder? What time of day? Was there a bay, inlet, and or river mouth nearby? Was the victim actually riding or was he trolling around to collect his board? (was has attacked by a great white like the seals of South Africa? We've all see the breaching that goes on down there on the Discovery Channel.) Was he riding a surfboard and didn't know how to jibe, so he stopped, dropped, and flipped the board around? Was he learning a new trick and slashing around a lot? Was anyone else nearby? More details would be helpful to know so we can learn for this event hopefully avoid this from happening in the future. My condolences goes out to his friends and family.
