Since your up in Lahaina the closest for your is Kihei .
There a few spots as you go up South Kihei Rd. One is an obvious park on the right just past some condos and a small overpass over a creek. The park is called Kalpolepo Beach park. Its directly across from this address : 642 S Kihei Rd, But you will see kites there if its windy.

Also a little further past that there is a large condo complex called MAui Sunset also on South Kihei Rd. : http://www.mauisunset.com/locati1.jpg

for a view check out :

There is a park with designated beach access behind this set of condos.
Good launch here with flat ground lots of grass, and some sandy beach to lay out lines. Be careful it can be shallow find channels in reef to avoid sacrificing your fins. Some windsurfers at this site but not many. Watch for the routes they follow through the inside reef and follow to avoid the shallows.

The other site for you is kite beach in Kanaha beach park (kite beach) but its a bit of a haul for you from Lahaina. It is well worth it however.

Other site would be Waiehu Beach Park and Sand piles. but it might be just as far as Kanaha.

Here is a list of beaches for the rest of the island :

Hope this helps. Aloha,
E

Go to kitebeach. Kihei isn't a good spot normally. Yes you can go there, but the wind is weaker and more shifty than on kitebeach (!!). If you stay in Lahaina then the difference between going to Kihei and Kitebeach is 10-15 mins...maybe 20 mins. IMO not enough time to warrant going to Kihei and watchout for palm trees as you launch. instead if you compare the conditions. Also kitebeach wind is usually stronger.

Only go after 11 am as the beaches are reserved for fishing before that.
