Fri Jan 08, 10 8:52 am South Padre kiting vs. Stevenson kiting...a toss-up |
|
|
Here is a note of interest:
Right now (10:30 AM Central time), Stevenson and South Padre Island have exactly the same wind and temperature...so, I guess a kiter would have the same amount of fun in either place. Crazy world we live in!
wind is 30 MPH average
temperature is 36F |

Water temp in Stevenson is 38degrees.
Would bet Padre's water is alot warmer than that!
Of course we have natural scenic beauty. No 4 for 10 tshirts! _________________ Cleverly disguised as an adult...

We'll be kiting Punta Chame, Panama tomorrow escaping both Stevie and SPI. We're in the no wet suit zone. |

Make that 34 degrees...in the last 2 hours, it dropped 2 degrees...
An incredible clash of the elements today... extreme planetary conditions...the kind of thing that they are trying to simulate with the Large Hadron Collider. Earlier today, I thought I saw a Higgs-Boson particle zip past my balcony...of course, I could be wrong...it could have something to do with the hot buttered rum drinks I have been slugging down in my attempt to stay warm...but, I'm not as think as you drunk I am... |

Go with the 100 rule...
Example...if it's less than 50 in the water and less than 50 in the air = it's fucken getting cold.
Even though SPI is in the low 30's, I bet a shitzillion dollars the water temp is colder than Stevenson's.... |

We've been in an office with no windows most of the last 4 months working our asses off. Haven't kited since the first week of September. We were home in Stevenson for a few days before Christmas then drove to SPI, had a couple of days there then had to come back down to Panama. We're looking forward to getting out of the office this weekend and kiting. Also looking forward to getting back to SPI in another week or so and getting some of the winter wave sessions.
Way too much work and not enough time to play. How long till retirement???

Glad you guys are getting a fun break. Sounds like you've earned it. You working on expanding the canal or something? _________________ The Slider Project, LLC
