Sat Dec 26, 09 2:35 pm Hatteras in August? |

Considering relocating the family for a month or so this summer while the kids are out of school.
I assume this wind is pretty solid in Hatteras in August...but what about the waves? I like flats on occasion but if you tell me there's no swell in August I'll keep looking.
Is it warm in August?
Ideas on home rentals/locations would also be appreciated! Oh, and where is the best to fly into...

i personally did not like hatterass, I thought it was over priced and over hyped. I rode 4-5 days outta 14, no waves, and forget the night life.
I had a lot more fun in S.P.I. and it was cheaper and better conditions. But im not sure if august is the ideal time of the year. |

August is great on the West Coast. Maybe check out Cali or Canada if you wanna relocate outta Oregon?
Or Hawaii is always fun.
I think the shoulder season places like Hatteras or SPI are too hot to have good wind that time of year. _________________ The Slider Project, LLC

Yeah the east coast is really hit or miss in the summer, the spring and fall are the most reliable.
Small to no swell in the summer and Hella spendy just like the other guys said |

We spent June July and August out on the sand bar living in a van. There was no wind in august, even with a REALLY big kite it sucked. PM me and I can tell you some tricks and spots for keeping it cheap while your out there. |

Wow..thanks. I had always thought NC season was like ours only longer, so I figured summer would be solid.
I would still like to check it out but I guess it will have to wait for a Fall or Spring trip.

I've always thought hatteras was more spring/fall for wind. There's a reason why everybody migrates to the gorge during the summer. _________________ BIP- "YOUR GIRLFRIENDS FAVORITE" |

I visited Hatteras in early october and only had three days / Not one windy day and I agree with sol flyer . Oh and what happened to the most popular fast food places once on the outer banks , gone ! I saw one DQ and it was closed for the season .
The gorge is fine but Jones Beach and the west coast
or SPI
PS
"Canadian hole " is Fort Mcmurray not at Hatteras ( never seen an uglier hole or worked in one like the tar sands ) |
