I've got a single-line remote control kite I want to try out on the water this coming season.
I've got 25M, 24M, 22M, 18M, 14M & 12M sizes to try out.
There are three versions of remote control you can find locally: Kelton Rappleyea, Eli Anderson, and Mark Barnes.
Batteries not included. Lands all by itself. Use at your own risk.

That's a head scratcher.
Can you post a close-up of the receiver unit that attaches to the line?

Wild, have the batteries ever run out?
How's the safety work - looks like you have something on your wrist there?

Nope, that's my watch
The safety strategy is that the kiter lets go of the bar, and then the pilot tries like hell to fly back to shore before he goes in the drink.
I really want to try this. I've got an old wing and I've seen some old pics of people making it work.
In the pic named "parakite2", I'm not sure if the boarder is actually powered by the paraglider or not, but the angles are right.
In the pic named "paragliding baja" they are definitely making it work.
There are enough creative paragliders and kiteboarders out there who are up for just about anything, so that if you could actually make this work well, you'd probably run across more pics of people doing it.
I just want to see if I can make it work.
It would take nearly perfect conditions to pull it off. We'd need steady winds in the 14-17mph range.

| How does body dragging work when you lose your board?

If you lose your board you'd have to swim for it, while the pilot makes a b-line for the beach. The paraglider needs the resistance of the kiteboarder to stay aloft. If there's no tension on the line, the paraglider would start to sink out.
This isn't a practical way to kiteboard, it's just sort of a project to see if I can make it work.

There's no electronics involved. There's a paraglider and a kiteboarder working in tandem. The remote control is one yelling instructions to the other. Hopefully the other pics I just posted are a little more clear about what's going on.

so in those initial pics, you're actually holding on to the pilot?
whoa, that photo is a trip all by itself.
bear in mind i'm pretty sure those other photos of it "working" were taken in la ventana. if you've never been there, the combination of the catcher's mitt beach, warm water, and large numbers of fellow sailors make it a relatively forgiving place.
i think the same trick would be a bit more risky off the OR coast....

Yep, that's me "Kiting" my buddy Kelton. I think we were at Sunset beach or Area B.
When the wind speed gets up to 14-15mph, you can just stand there and kite a paraglider without much effort. The paraglider can do banked turns and mess around and all you have to do is hold the line like you're flying a kite.
