Hey,
Quick question. Ive been riding an 11 T3 for about 6 months in Florida. Im staying upwind and am working on some small jumps. Nothing special. My 11 was stolen. Im looking to replace it or go with a 12 rpm. Based on my experience, any advice would be great.
Thx, G |

RPM and T3 fly very different. If you like your T3 style I'd stick with it and get another one.
The T3's will have more range than the RPM, but the RPM is a better kite for unhooked and freestyle. |

If you are comfortable with the T3 and ready for a faster kite the RPM will fit the bill. The T3's are a 2:1 convertible to 1:1 steering ratio. The RPM is a true 1:1 ratio steering kite. This means that you have to turn the T3 bar more aggressively, or 2 times as much at the RPM bar to get the same steering result.
I would say that you should take a lesson and have a qualified instructor introduce you to the different kite. If you just try one it will at first freak you out as it is really fast. I would say that it is a least Rabbit fast and the T3 is Weiner Dog fast, but if motivated by aggresive bar activationalismazationoification it will move like a hungry little brown land torpedo.
My friend who is currently on RPM's having switched from T3's loves em!! He has excellent kite control and is not afraid of self rescuing. He was able to kite without a board upwind and not afraid to pull the plug and wind up in deep water for the long ass haul to la playa.
So, to answer your question, it is both yes and no.
Cheers

If you are intimidated at all take a lesson. RPM's are fast kites, but they are great. It's worth a couple bucks to get oriented to the kite. You can tune the kite tons of different ways. Free ride, grunt, turning speed! It's the one kite that will do it all and it's powerful.
Sure, you could demo it, but why not own learn what it can do. Sure I can drive a car but I'm not going to demo a Firari.
I'm just sayin,

| Just wanted to add to the TX vs RPM debate. Back is the day when windance was selling T2's new for $500 I bought a couple and hung them in the closet. $1000 for 2 new kites is way less than anything modern you could get. The theory was that I could pull them out when my current one's die and be good to go. For an old guy who just wants to cruise around on a surfboard, am I really missing that much in kite performance? |

No, but you are getting an amazing arm work out.
PS I would totally demo a Ferrari. Why wouldn't you? _________________ The Slider Project, LLC
