I have only been here one winter - but from what I know, winter is the least consistent time for wind. It is the best time for swell. Water in the upper 50s air in the 60s.

Check ikitesurf historical data for 'C' street Confused
Also check the values for Pismo & Jalama as those areas get better wind & bigger swell in the Winter, and are close enough for a day trip.

I have lived in San Luis Obispo County for over 20 years now and bought my house in Los Osos as it is next to my favorite paragliding spot at Montana de Oro state park. Los Osos is off highway 1 about 25 minutes northwest of Pismo.

SLO county is paradise although the NW is hard to beat four months out of the year. haha. It's a great flying site but you do need to be a minimum p3 pilot, part of our local club (nominal 20 fee) and current USGHA member (insurance) to fly this site.

Our flying sites are mostly coastal and I'm more of a ridge geek but do like 'mellow' mountain flying and thermals. We have one site that offers a bit of both, also close to my house. The guys have also been able to get some 20+ mile cross country inland flights in so if you ever do come to the area, i'll hook you up:-)

Don't fly much anymore but still like to get in the air as not ready to hang up my shoes yet in this sport. Just would rather kite nowadays than fly.. opposite of bam who is rather addicted, like we all were when we first started! I hold the record for waiting the most hours at launch and driving the most miles to get a flight in. lol

Would like to soar those southern oregon dunes....

below is MDO....
