South Padre Island, TX is warm and windy that time of year. Should be after typical Spring break so less crazy and expensive.

Also, Maui can be good around then if you want something more exotic.

What are the winds like? How reliable are the winds? What are the typical kite sizes?

Been to Padre in April it's aways fun there...not that great if your taking non kiters though.

Costa Rica is awesome...I think we went in Feb a few year ago and it was a blast...small kites wind everyday...food was awesome...and pretty cheap trip too.

Maui has tons to do for non-kiters...kind of $$$ but always a great place.

What part of Costa Rica did you go? Did you rent a car when you flew in and just drove?

I've spent some time in Costa Rica - just didn't know they had kiting spots. WOuld absolutley love to go back!!

I work at this resort in Belize, we're just expanding into kiting, but lots of other sports as well: surfing, SUPing, snorkeling, kayaking. April we get steady trades 10-20. Private Island, all-inclusive with all the Belikin beer you can drink. Check out the site:

Anyone can PM if they want more info.

Exactly....you can also kite at the volcano but we didn't do that.

We flew to San Jose then drove...if I did it agian I would fly to Liberia and drive from there.

Bahia Salinas-

7-9m from December - May. Almost every day. two flat water landing zones. lots of big bay chop. You can kite to Nicaragua (though you might get arrested). I went in the first two weeks of march and rode 5m and 7m. It was stronger than normal. bring 12m just in case. NOTHING LARGER. waste of space. The wind graph for the last 4 years seems to run in 2 week waves all winter. 2 weeks 20knts. 2 weeks 30+knts. repeat. cool local village scene, and a small city (La Cruz) half hour away. Fly to Liberia and drive to Playa Copal.

I'll be there soon.

Yes, bring smaller kites to Costa Than you normally would. You can kite the Lake Arenal, but the winds are gustier and the launchs are sketchy...
Bahia Salinas is the place, we have beach front rentals and Cabrinha kite gear to rent...also SUP rentals and trips to surrounding attractions.
