I'm spending some time here in the Portland area and I'm looking for some beta on where to go kite for the next few days. I would be stoked to hook up with some locals from NWK. I'm from nor CA and kite Sherman Island regularly, so I'm looking for something with simular conditions. My buddy said Rooster and Jones would be worth checkin... I heard the wind has switched to the east. Thanks!

| The gorge should be blowing west the next 2-3 days. What type of riding are you looking to do? For bigger swell you want to head out east to Rufus or Rosevelt/Arlington (2-3 hours from Portland). If you want some flat water head to Hood River. If you want the steadiest wind head to stevenson, not much flat water and small river swell. |

| Thanks for the reply. I brought my 7,9 & 11m kites and both my twin and surfboard, so I'm game for anything. I think I'd prefer more flat water conditions since I have some new kites I need to break in and I want to work on some jumps and tricks. If it's blowin west then I think I'm going to lean towards Hood River... the Sand Bar. |

| Do you mean 9/13-9/15? Where in CA are you from? I'm arranging travel to/from Santa Clara, driving up this Thursday but not sure when I'm driving back. I know the Gorge well so if our travels overlap or you have specific questions PM me. |

I was a little hungover when I posted... I've changed it to the correct dates. 
I'm out in Sacramento. I know you're on BAK as well. I saw your post about coming up here and then needing a ride back or something to that effect. I'm planning to head back home on Wed, so I didn't bother following up on that post. I really appreciate you responding though.
Thanks to Chooch's feeback I caught Hood River. It was nuken, but punchy as hell. I was lit on my 7m and had an epic session, but it was a major workout managing the gusts. I'm planning to go back there tomorrow and Tuesday if the wind sticks around. |
