In some parts of Florida we kite near channels, bridges, and thru ocean currents. Currents can get pretty heavy, enough to affect your upwind ability for sure.

Unless your talking a honking current, you should be able to ride upwind. You should notice that your upwind ability is much better in one direction then in the other. As long as your powered it shouldnt be that much of an issue. Now when the wind calms down or in lulls and you have to ride your board flat and standing straight up that could make a difference.

My motto when I kite in strong currents is when you got the power, get the upwind becuase in two munutes you may not be able to.

Of course, I have no idea how strong your currents are, but I can tell you when the tides come in and out thru bridge channels down here, look out!

Yeah, i'm thinking of a later session around 11 or so once it's warmed out and the wind calms down. Early afternoon might be best call anyway for mellower wind.

Anyone up for a Downwinder from SSSS to RR? That is Super Secret, Secret Spot. The journey and setup is half the fun on this one.
