Its 3 chip, IM not sure what model it is cause its Dylans Camera not mine. The XL-H1 is crazy (more $$$), but definately a little bigger and harder to work with for fast stuff. JVC makes a pretty small HD guy, the HD1 (I swear it was ~$1500 - don't quote me on that though), but I hate JVC...
