Tue Aug 11, 09 12:03 pm Which School Kite? |

Just curious and interested in feedback...I'm looking at additional kites at my shop for instructional/youth purposes. Other instructors / riders out there, which school kites do you like best and why? What things did you take into consideration when choosing the kites you have to teach others on? _________________ Wind energy you can really put your hands on! www.thirdcoastkites.com |

I like to use a Slingshot 5m T2. It has significantly decreased the time to learn coupled with incredible safety. Beach and/or water relaunch are about the best I've seen.
I don't usually use trainer kites anymore. It will fly in 10kts of wind and even give the student enough power to body drag when it is that light; forcing the student to fly the kite rather than get dragged around. Many of my lessons are landboard lessons and it has such great depower that it works well for that too.
They are inexpensive, bomber and nice for when I come out to the Gorge!!
I'm sure T3's are similar but the T2's seem to be plentiful on the used market while retaining the flying characteristics and safety of a "modern" kite. |

Slingshot T2/T3. Really amazing teaching kites. Love them for that.

t3/t2 light bar pressure, easy relaunch, slower kite compared to most, nice saftey system, plus once people learn on a kite they generally want to stick to it for a while and the t3 has the $999 pacage with kite, bar, and board, it is also a kite that you can progress on _________________ Less fighting more kiting

I have only ridden a few brands but the T2/3 definately did not qualify as "light bar pressure" for what I am used to, easy relaunch yes and slow yes also...way too slow for me compared to others. A good school kite for absolute beginners yes but not a kite I would want for any progression past that |
