Surfboard and TT will extend your range (on any kite)
that said - was surprised with 6m RPM the other day the wind was 15-30 and it worked really really well - huge sweet spot _________________ Go Deep!

Wed Aug 05, 09 9:12 am My little wind range experiment on a 10 meter RPM |
|
|
On Monday I went out at the event site around 2:30 to 3:40 in wind from 10 mph to 15mph average 13mph. I was on a 6-2 surfboard and my 10meter RPM. I was able to make it all the way up to the bridge in winds that were backing off. I had the lines on the free ride setting and the kite was able to power me enough to get upwind.
Then on Tuesday I went out at Dougs and on the same 10 meter kite and a twintip in 27 average wind with gusts to 30's. I was lit up, but had enough control to kite for about an 45 minutes before I pulled the plug. I had at least 14 inches of depower cleated off and I was doing fine.
Here is my opinion about the 10 meter RPM. I've been kiting on it for more than 2 months, several sessions on the coast, plenty of time here at home in The Dalles, and Hood River.
It's the best kite I've flown so far in my kiting experience. It's got the biggest wind range of any kite I've used to date. I could have gotten away with just buying 2 kite quiver as I don't use my 12 meter due to the surfboard making it possible to kite in winds around 14 mph to 18mph.
