Congratulations to Josh and Cleanline on the new shop location! It's going to be AWESOME!
(See article in this mornings Oregonian/Business section!)
When Cleanline Surf Shop opened in Seaside in 1980, it was the only one to stay in business longer than a year between British Columbia and Santa Cruz, Calif., said owner and founder Josh Gizdavich.
Growing up in Seaside surfing at a young age, Gizdavich learned how to patch wetsuits, build leashes and repair surfboards in the absence of a local shop.
He opened Cleanline in his dad's old doctor's office, and a couple years later, opened a second location in Cannon Beach. This week, Gizdavich purchased the old Seaside Library to further expand in the coming years.
"We went from one small room with six wetsuits and six T-shirts," said Gizdavich, who employs 30 people in the summer. "We're expanding right now to twice as much space. But I need three times."
