I think a couple of us are headed down friday afternoon and it would be great to hook up with some folks for a shuttle. We have a big van and can take a number of drivers back to the fort.

				| I believe the shipwreck is a right and a couple miles up the beach at least....The other entrance is up by Fort Stevens but I'm not certain of the road to take. |

The entrance at the wreck is pretty soft. Don't do it without 4x4.

Take sunset and go right.

It's almost exactly 4 miles up.

5 miles from the big flag entrance(Gearhart) to the wreck.

Sunset, Del Ray, and Gearhart are all clear entrances that you don't need a 4x4 to get into.

Also, you can still drive all the way up to the jetty............that ends Memorial day weekend. |

				| At Sunset can you drive on the beach without a 4x4 this time of year? I have a little pick up truck and I don't wanna get stuck! |

Definitely.... there are little hondas all over the beach.

The drive in from sunset lane is all packed sand. The beach is very wide. Just stay in the hard pack. High tide can be a little tricky but that is only for 2 hours during the entire day. Just know the tide and you will be fine. And once you have a good session here the gorge will look like a crowded dirty river. It can't really get crowded here. 20 miles of sand and waves. Get on it. |

All the coastal webcams are showing pretty smooth water right now... Let's just hope that the wind picks up!!!!!

S. Jetty, Newport is currently 8NNW with gusts to 8...

EDIT: 11:00AM update. Now we're at 12 to 13. A solid 22 to 24 would be awesome for big kites later. PLEASE! |
