I snagged the last air conditioner in the state at Lowes. 25,000 btu 220 volt monster. Smile

so if you live in NE and your lights start to flicker, don't worry it's just my air conditioner.

PS no mt. Tabor for me.

Are you running the wiring now or do you 220 inside already? Garage, yes. Inside?

Yeah, not the best thing in the world; especially since we are pacific power customers Crying or Very sad

But hey, i spent two years living in a hut with no electricity at all-just making up for lost time. Hopefully my Toyota "compromise" will offset a little. Or I could serve penance by spending the rest of the summer on a ladder insulating my walls.

Hut? or Box?

You're claiming "cardboard credits" then...?

you know they have peddle power generators now,

with your "rock" hard legs, I'm sure you could put out 220v.

Hell, thing is you're not much more gluttonous than the cable-park-jocks.

green with envy of your "rock"hardened gams, they must be...

it is a bit warm today eh? ya green boot-clad stokemos?

I broke down and bought a window unit yesterday too FO!!!!

I've lived here 10 years and never thought I would need one, but when your wife and 4 week old son say "Dammit get me an air conditioner" sometimes you take the path of least resistance. I mean come on 106, 107 with no escape. It was 90 degrees at 11 pm on Tuesday when I got home from the beach. My house thermometer said 98.

I don't think Monkeyboy is going to fuck up the world using an air conditioner for two weeks every year.

Settle Down,
Andy

Andy, where did you wind up finding one? I ended up buying a 220 as they were the only ones left. It does make all the difference in the world though. Slept like a friggin baby last night. You walk into the bedroom, its like 65, AHHHhhhhhhhh.

I woke up yesterday morning and called the Lowes in Tigard and there was 9 left. My wife figured since it was close to Lake O and rich people already have air conditioners that they would have some left.

I left at 7 and got there about 7:25 and there were only 4 left. They were all gone by the time I got to the check out counter and more people were coming in to look. It was like 250 and 10000 btu. They still had plenty of 12000 btu models that were like 600.

My house is so small and efficient that I can just about cool the whole first floor. I closed all the storm windows etc. Our bedroom is in the basement now so no air needed at night if the main floor isn't 98 degrees.

Heck,

I don't mind, I drive a big ass truck because I like the view, and well a fuel injected V-8 is nice for those times you need to "express yourself" let's say...

We don't deal in BTUs in my next of the woods...we go by tonnes..

I've two six tonnes,as I recall? running twenty-four seven June through September , but I do keep the thermostat at 76 and not 65..

It went off here yesterday, like 30, didn't even have to sheet in my nine...

Butter-pure, thermal thirty..

Ahh,,,sweetness

crank them up boys, let's get on with it..

PostFri Jul 31, 09 6:17 am    Did someone say Btu? Reply with quote

For reference:
one ton = 12,000 Btu
It takes requires 12,000 Btus to melt one ton of ice.
hence the ton denotation on the AC unit
Now you know

Must be wicked hot or a giant, algore sized residence.
Good on yah.
