Yah, SS, I read your post too fast... You make a good point about dealing with access issues. Guess I'm in a "need of a good session funk" this morning and looking for a fight? Isn’t that what this Kite Forum thing is for?? JK
Okay, so here’s what we do: Let's all call Shannon Best and tell him not to be an idiot and risk our access to HR kite launches and the relationship the CGKA has built then he Port. The he will probably tell us to F/O... Just like he did with the East Coast thing… Then we’ll default back to bashing his brand and not buying his product… Situation resolved.
PS did I mention I'm in a funk??

Everything you read on this forum is better categorized as "self policing" and its civil. Kiters living or visiting in this area (correct me otherwise, there are probably some stories) have not been beaten within inches of their lives, had their cars shit on/windows broken/tires slashed, had beheaded animals left in their yards, an so on. NS Colbster!! It’s absolutely despicable the lack of Onad family kiting/presence at the coast this year. Selling the old and moving into the new house this summer sure has taken its toll on kiting sessions and getting out of town. And now, we’ve got the house warming party this weekend. WTF we’re we (i.e. CFO = Chief Female Officer) thinking??
I’m tempted reject the party evite, bail on the party (and valley heat wave), and hit the coast (or blow out). Cause I need to blow out some STEAM!!
On a positive note, Labor Day weekend is "Kite On" for the Onad’s, just gota pin down the windy /wave'y place to be…

For the record, it was Shannon Best.
As I had written, this was not a 'call out', but mainly a notice of warning to please stick to the rules that all others have to abide by in order for us to maintain preservation of our current launch at the Event Site.
I think that it speaks volumes that our local community takes this sort of action this seriously. It does truly mean that most everyone really does understand the value of our abiding by all of the rules that we actually created with the Port of Hood River. _________________ Pure Stoke Sports

It's nice to know that he is a cool guy in person, but a bummer to know that he does not care about the HR kite community.
Yes, there was another person on a Wainman kite who also launched off of the pier.
Both attempted launches were very bad judgement calls. Shannon can go somewhere else if he wants to do publicity stunts and makes risks that he can take responsibility for. Risking our rights to launch at the Event Site are not something that I or anyone else should be comfortable allowing him to gamble with.

I am sure he is reading this forum and will do exactly as you tell him, I understand the sentiment but dont see how hashing it out here will really accomplish anything except maybe getting it off your chest. Seems the most effective approach would be trying to talk to the individual in question personally
