Great to see all the people out there Sunday having a good time. The waves at lot B were good but seemed to fizzle out as you got southbound. Slither, Jahmbi and I point sailed then headed down for a slow ride to the cars. With gusts to 30 at Clatsop, it was great to have solid wind!! Cool

Reminder it is NOT OK to jibe right in front of someone on your way back out who has gone out to catch a roller and is patiently waiting for it to break. 2' Sunday so it doesn't matter much (and not a foul) but disturbing to watch the same person "shred" the wave when it hasn't broke yet, thus spoiling the wave for the person you snaked. You are a good sailer Ozone girl but if the waves were larger this is unsafe and annoying, please mind your p's and q's. Smile aloha

I'd say it's most foul no matter what size the surf is
jumping around and doing some trick
and eatin shit ain't too impressive either

Unless of course you are NOT in the line up
then everyone can watch and smurk when you eat it Twisted Evil

Somebody repeatedly turning in front of everyone IS very annoying
especially in small surf
because there's no reason for it
in big surf the chicken gybe is a tool in everyones pocket
just put your kite low and hurry out of the way
thanks and have a safe trip back to (canada/pdx/gorge) Laughing

FYI-

Red Chev Silverado truck late model(newish), dark windows.
Licence-CU 18826

this vehicle has been seen several times by different people

coincidentally before break ins at lot B

Has been observed leaving parking lots abruptly,

and cruising in and out without stopping

usually gives the stinkeye or looks away.

definitely not the ordinary looking surfer or beach going type, what ever that is.

Just sayin' is all.

suggest-Make a note of the licence plate...

I generally try to give everyone a wide berth unless it feels like my turn or i've been working hard for it. I turned away from a couple because someone else looked better set up. Felt like the right thing to do at the time.

lots of waves for everyone right!?

Hey All ,
Ok I'm a frostback (canadian) who recently visited the most awesome Oregon coast and Jones beach. I loved it and the people I met were great .
Anyway when I come to a new spot I like to ask if there are any general rules or tips I should know so as not to piss on anyone cornflakes .
I'm sure it's frustrating for the regs and knowit's but be patient and let them know if they did not ask , then if they persist ........ well . Don't tell them about rip tides .?!
I generally stay out of the way of kiters that I can see have way more skill than I and pay attention to the rest as best I can , but we all make mistakes too .
Anyway it's an incredible experience to ride the waves and meet good people . I am looking forward to my next visit .

When we got back to Area B, there was a red truck parked right up on the ass of the Troll-mobile. Very strange as there was plenty of parking around.

Jahmbi/Barfly - do you remember, was it a Silverado? Anyone know that rig?

Jahmbi is back! Good clean (sortof Jah easy on the fbombs) forum banter. Glad to see things are normal again.

blue, so when the Hood boys encourage discipline and etiquette at the sand bar, do you babble on about how agro they are and how level-headed and aloha you are? There are guidelines here too, no one cares if you come around and kite sheeeit get over yourself. Why do you feel attacked? Thanks for being a champion for all the poor kiters that have to deal with those nasty coasties Rolling Eyes When I see someone unsafe or uncool things, I let them know in person if I get a chance. Nothing to feel small about. I ask for advice when I go to the sandbar, or watch for awhile to get the rotation. Share some stoke, learn some things so when you go to places like NorCal or Maui, you don't get your ass beat on the beach. Pull that wave-snaking shit in FLO and you will get your ass beat. It is much more dangerous.

Had a great 9m session at lot b yesterday. Was talking to Twin and he noted (not complained) it was light. I hear that a lot on weather patterns like yesterday from people downwinding from lot b to the wreck. When it is that hot in the valley (or about to get hot... thermal lows over the desert, etc.), the northerly winds on the north coast often don't fill in. There can be fog in Seaside and Manzo (if Jones is zero, this is also and indicator) and the jetty and lot b are micro climates where they are the only place wind is blowing. Plus the waves finally bumped up for the first time in a couple of weeks. The only good waves were at lot b. Before rushing downwind, do some checks and make sure point sailing isn't the best bet. It pains me to see you all drive out here and then be bummed about how light it was Cool - Peace, love, aloha.

barfly, I don’t feel attacked at all, just seeking an explanation for a seemingly ironic situation. Coast is phenomenal, I love going there any chance I have. I hike there and play with the kids on the beaches. I am not at the point of doing the ocean riding yet, but I hope to be one day.

You are absolutely right on the safety issues, and observing the local etiquette.

Recently however, I see an increasing local coastal protectionism. I likely misread the above post in that regard. But, I find this shade of local protectionism a bit … disappointing. It takes dedication to travel for kiting from pdx and beyond. It takes just a little bit more to discover the places on my own. In truth, you could run national advertisement campaign for the OC, and that wouldn’t attract SoCal beach crowds with airplanes bringing loads of tourists from Europe or Asia. Take well known Jones beach as an example. In roughly a dozen of sessions this year only once I kited there with more than a handful of others.

Public places are, well, public. No amount of apprehension from the local crowd is going to change that. It might only make one feel not welcomed.

I think the problem is that to those that live or ride at the coast all the time, have no idea what the hell your talking about.
