After 6 different doctor opinions they have decided I have pudendal nerve damage in the crotch area. It was caused by the crotch straps inflicting major pressure on the nerves. I was doing lots of jumping 4- 6 sessions a week. The harness is the board short harness. The symptom is a feeling like you are sitting on a golf ball whenever seated. It is also know as bicycle seat syndrome, common to many bikers and being mis-diagnosed as prostititus.I am going to the Mayo clinic next week to see a specialist after 7 months of pain. My question is: anyone else out there with these symptoms?

Jesus, that sounds awefull. Ditch the seat harness and trade your broken crotch area with bruised ribs.

Moondog.....sounds terrible!! This summer I'm riding about 3-4 times per week about 2.5 / 3 hours each time with a Dakine Nitrous seat harness with small to med boosting and don't have any problems except occasional bruising around my legs from the straps.

Everything still "works" and I guess my small dick is finally paying off! Very Happy

Good luck with recovery.

I was riding a ton of mountain bike and having some lingering pain. Went to the store and got a cannondale set of shorts with a really nice pad.
I also bought the mission harness. Never had the golf ball thing, but some pain in the inseam of my legs.

Good luck, nerves can heal if given the chance.

Try any different harness--even a minor change to fit and pressure points could relieve the nerve.

Totally sucks man. Good luck with getting it fixed.

I use the Nitrous shorts. Used to get the bruising till I figured out the legstraps can be pretty loose. Lately, I've even cut one of the leg straps off for various reasons. The harness still works fine. Just tighten the waist portion good & tight and leave the leg straps full loose.

I am now riding the new 2009 Dakine sonic. It is a seat harness without crotch straps. It is very comfortable and reduces all pressure in my affected area. I'm surprised with all of the kiter/bikers living in the gorge there are not more complaints about pudendal nerve entrapment.

yikes! that sounds terrible!

I recently switched to a nitrous shorts harness because my prolimit FX waist was making my back hurt and was bruising my ribs.

I guess there's just no way you can win Crying or Very sad

Try not cinching the leg straps down. Seems to work for me.

Agreed. I keep the leg straps so loose I could get rid of them. The Dakine shorts pull nice and snug around the top of hips.

I switched from the nitrous shorts to a North Styler Harness - a few broken ribs a couple years ago got me into a dakine seat diaper and then the nitrous shorts - rode those for over a year

it was really really nice finally switching to a waist harness again - lots more flexiblity for drop knee surf style and just walking around in those things sucks

Moondog hope you find a solution

Sit on the fence, get Session2 by OR. I just switched to it from Nitrous, and I love it.

agreed.

walking in shorts harnesses is no bueno...

the Shorts harness is just a temporary fix for me while my back heals. I think I must have pulled something because I was getting consistent pain in my lower left back during and after riding in addition to sore ribs.

I have a small frame for someone my size so I think that makes waist harnesses ride up a little easier on me then someone with a bit broader shoulders.

in the mean time I'm gonna try and build up my upper body. lose my muffin top and then maybe a waist harness will fit better.

I'll try keeping the leg straps loose like you guys suggested

Sorry to hear it.

I used the board shorts twice and then never again.

It was so painful. After the first time, I thought it was pinching my balls so the second time, I wore a speedo under it to keep everything in place! But it still hurt like hell every jump. I tried all sorts of strap adjustments but decided it was pinching a nerve. I went back to waist harness which only hurts after bad kite loops rather than after every jump...
