I'm looking to start hitting Sauvie's, and need a kite recommendation. I only have a 6 and a 9 right now for HR. Would a 12 or a 14 be best for most conditions there? What's the most consistent wind speed out there?

THX!!

Shameless pimping:

http://www.nwkite.com/forums/t-13190.html

That kite really is a great Sauvie's kite though. You didn't mention your weight, but for the average guy a 14 or 15 works very well for a lightwind kite.

As you may have figured out, we don't do brand vs brand threads here. However, if you have a particular kite in mind, you can post a thread asking about that kite...

Your board choice will be critical too. Wide board, little or no rocker is what you're looking for. There's a thread on here somewhere about making your own lightwind board.

Thanks. I'm 190 - 6' and the wife is 135 5'9". Im looking at a either a 12 or 14 LF Havoc. I'm wondering if she could ride the 9 LF Session in the conditions there.

she could prob make the 9 work most of the time....maybe consider getting her a skim or surfboard for the light days.

If you plan on riding the Gorge too go for the 12...14's are really needed

If you don't have a surf or skim then the 14m T2 is the MONEY light wind kite. It has a fair amount of bar pressure but I'm 190 and that thing is the absolute skunk preventer.

Its not the favorite kite in my quiver but I'll never sell mine. Never.

I think for SI, I'd have to lean toward a foil w/swim fins Wink

Brian, the skim does look like fun.

Have you done a grab tranny yet.

I bet you've already seen this a million times, but check ShimmSkim at this link:

That 2010 SS Oct looks pretty schnazizzy!

I'm waiting for the FS S3 19M. It's supposed to turn faster than S2.

The most used kite gear is not a kite or a board, but comes in 12 oz cans Laughing Laughing

Or you can find an old 20m Machine...

That skim has fins like a twin tip. I think it has to be called a fat strapless twin tip now.

My 15 Sport + and Flydunes SS plank thingy seems perfect for SI. Got me rethinking boards AGAIN.

that's right. my buddy Gabe s. had one of those Naish v-4 30m years ago. I vaguely remember mistaking it for a small forest in the desert....and I think I accidently whizzed on it.

No seriously. That was a super heavy kite. So exactly what I wouldn't want for light winds.

My Friend in the LBC uses a 12meter Light, says the lighter the kite the better for light winds. I'm trying to get the 17m " " coming out from Ozone that's Ultra LIght. I hear a lot of people are, so I likely won't see a demo for months.

In the mean time...I'd like to Demo the 14m Light 3 strut and see if the lighter weight improves things over my 15m sport

I don't know what naish was thinking that year, 30 meters just seams wrong.
Does anyone know what the wind range of that kite is, maybe like 3-6 knts?

I'm checking out an 07 Best Waroo 13M for my Sauvie's kite. Seems like enough range to cover the gap between my 9 and a light wind kite. Any thoughts?
