Wind blew 24/7. Mostly 10 RPM for me, and 6/8 for my boys. I think we may be addicted to Scuba now too--damn.

A crowd of kiters is about 8. Many days it was just my family. Kited 13 days with splinted finger. Will get X-rays Monday. You can Scuba in the AM and kite in the afternoon, or other way around.

Eric

Damn! When I was there, it only blew once out of 8 days!

My take was it's a sweet place for diving, a decent place for snorkling, but the kiting scene was a little weird. The wind is side-off-shore .... not super dangerous I guess, but it weirded me out enough that I never relaxed. (But maybe if it had blown more I would have gotten used to it).

Glad it worked out well for you though. Kiting and diving on the same day is a guaranteed way to have a sweet day ..

Great report!

I have been a few times in July. Two years I got every day and one year bad (about 3/10). June is more consistent.

But as for the place, it is beautiful clear flat water. you know it's clear when people come to scuba dive at the launch! if scuba + kite are your thing, this is hard to beat. if you only want wind, aruba is a bit stronger (and also has swell) but more touristy and less character and the scuba is not as great.

I think it's an ideal family trip for folks who love warm, clear water. It would not be my first choice for a group of hard charging kiters who wanted to kite only. I plan to go back and scuba in the am/kite in the pm.
