I know that this area has a ton of riders with lots of local experience surfing with kites and now I’m looking for some advice on a surfboard to kite with. I’m a 175lb intermediate old guy ‘dangler’. I’ve only kited with twin tips, I have a regular OR Mako and a wide Mako and now I want to add a surfboard. Will the same board be good for riding waves and river swells or do I need to make a decision on which I want the board to do better? What board dimensions for the Gorge and board dimensions for the coast?
Thanks - Paul

I just got out yesterday on a LF 6.2 Quad and it was pretty sweet. Going to try the Thruster next time. I actually got a few jibes too! Shit aint easy.

Pepi has a few different options worth trying out, you should go in or call and arrange a demo!

Thumb's Up Thumb's Up Thumb's Up

I like a shorter board for riverswell - since it is usually nuking if its any good

But if you are looking for an all around board for your weight - I would think anything 6' to 6'2 would be great for the coast and still fun in the river

I think their are two ways to ride surboards powerd up and with an underpowered kite. If you want to ride powered up I like a straped board 5'6" or under . These board are small enough that you can get into the strap and the board will not bounce around and will turn very fast. On the other hand if you want to go out with a underpowered kite and surf the sweels/waves I like a board over 6 ft with no straps. On the bigger boards you need to move around more forward to go up wind and stop the board from bouncing and back when you are on a swell/wave to turn. I think booth kinds of rideing are fun in the gorge or at the coast.
