hello my brothers and sistah's and all other infidels. i will be visiting my family on bainbridge island from july 1-13 from tampa florida. i have been kiting six years. should i bring my grear???? any suggestions on locations to kite? port townsend??? the west coast?? any good wind forcasting sites i should be watching??? i know about the gorge but think it may be too far rather stay a bit closer to seattle. suggestions?? thanks in advance!!

There are plenty of places on the mainland just a ferry ride away,Golden Gardens/Carkeek/and Alki come to mind. I dont know about the island itself. Check the Seattle Link on the top of the page and you should get some response posting there for locations and protocol. Also Google earth with Ocean/Ocean sports/Kitesurfing has some locations highlighted {allways take your gear when traveling near water Smile }

Seattle crew is way cool and good kiting in that area. I've never heard of any kiting actually around Bainbridge but use the search button and you'll find a lot of information in nwkite for Seattle and all the way up north to Bellingham. If you go Vancouver Canada...bring your passport. Enjoy the stay.

Drive north about 45 minutes across the Hood Canal Bridge to Dungeness/Cline Spit (search threads in PSK link above). Works on days when high pressure dominates the north Pacific off the coast of Ore & Wa. Look for small craft advisory in central Straight of Juan de Fuca marine forecast:
